It all started in the ancient Al-Andalus lands, that means, during the muslin occupation in the Iberian Peninsula. An Arabian Peninsula sweet
The written history refers to the "Turun" for the first time in the 11th century and it was described as an exquisite sweet made with honey and dry fruit at that time. The recipe of this nougat took a great place in the Arab cuisine and sailed with them to the Mediterranean Sea.

Five centuries ago, the nougat left its past behind and adopted two names according to their Designation of Origin (DO): Turron Alicante and Turron de Jijona.
